• Help families understand that engineering is all around them. 
• Honor families’ knowledge and experiences. 
• Engage families as co-creators and problem solvers. 
• Provide support for families to advocate for their youth’s STEM learning and possible careers in STEM. 

YES resources and strategies, including a Family Letter, scaffold active communication with families, spurring conversations at home and connecting students’ learning to their communities.
